Transcend SSD500: SLC-based SSD with Higher Security Levels

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a world leader in storage products launched SSD500 namely solid state drive (SSD)-based SLC. SSD technology is adopted the use of Single Level Cell (SLC), the latest innovation with lightning speed transfer is very fast and high endurance cells.

What is SLC?

SLC stands for Single Level Cell; SLC is a type of NAND flash memory. SLC works by storing a single bit in each cell that offers low power consumption, higher endurance and faster transfer speeds when compared to flash Multi-Level Cell (MLC).

The use of SSDs as an alternative to high-performance compared to standard hard drives continues to grow. To meet this demand, SSD500 built with high-speed SLC memory and features a new, more powerful controllers to provide exceptional transfer speeds up to 260MB / s (read) and 230MB / s (write). As a result, systems using SSD500 will increase startup speed, the speed of opening applications, and systems will become more responsive overall.

In addition to improved performance, SLC flash memory offers more than ten times the durability of writing (write) an MLC-based SSD by providing an estimated 100,000 cycle erase / write for long term use. To further increase the lifespan of the SSD, built-in wear-leveling and Error Correction Code (ECC) ensures reliable data transfer, while the full support of the TRIM command to help maintain optimum write speed.

All Transcend SSD 2.5 “backed by a three-year warranty and incorporate innovative features tamper-resistant features to guarantee the authenticity of the product. SSD500 from Transcend is now available in capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
