How to know if someone else uses your computer secretly
Maybe you suspect that your computer has been used by friends or other people secretly and concerned files and data contained in it is used without your permission. Protecting a computer with a password or using an application such as Prey might be able to prevent this from happening but if you want to make sure that your computer has been used while you are outside, in the following ways can help you.
Check the Windows Event Viewer
For users of Windows OS you just need to open a program called Event Viewer logs to record a variety of recently executed.
1. On the Start menu type ‘Event Viewer’ in the search box. Press Enter when the choice appears in the menu.
2. Double click on ‘Windows Logs’ in the left sidebar and then click System.
3. Right click System and select Filter Current Log.
4. In the pop-up window that appears look for Event Sources and select Power Troubleshooter and press OK.
5. Check the middle panel of Event Viewer. At the top you will find the recent events in the order down. Find a time where you suspect your computer is used and find out if there is an event, click the event to find out more detail.
If you find that your computer is used, you can check out more Recent Documents, browser history and other locations to see if the other computer users leave a trail.
Checking the Mac OS X Console
If you use a Mac in this way you can do:
1. Click the Spotlight icon and then type in and search for Console. Open the Console app.
2. Click on kernel.log on the left sidebar. If the sidebar does not appear click ‘Show Log List “and first expand / private / var / log.
3. Open the search bar and search for ‘Wake reason: EC.LidOpen’.
4. There you will see the list at any time your Mac is opened and awake, sorted by time. Please scroll to the time where you suspect your computer is used.
