One of the important facilities on the Linux server is cron, which because of its function is usually known as crontab or cron jobs. Cron is a packet scheduler that serves execute a command at any given time.

Cron is used to run Linux commands at a specified time and according to certain interval. Suppose we want to perform system backups every hour 12 am each day, we can do Cron settings for this purpose.

For Windows users, Cron can be associated with the Scheduled Task, but Cron has more advantages because it is more flexible.

Cron is usually set with the command: crontab-e then filled in accordance with the format of cron in the formation of minute, hour, day and month.

For example:

1 0 * * * / opt / backup.sh ”

Means the server will run the script / opt / backup.sh every minute of the first at 12 o’clock at night.
