Asturix On: Web-Based Desktop Environment
If during the time we recognize the various desktop environments like KDE, GNOME, Unity, XFCE, LXDE, OpenBox, and others. Now there is a fairly revolutionary new entrants is Asturix On. Why revolutionary? Because Asturix On the concept of web-based desktop environment! In the making, Asturix On using JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5. All three devices are commonly used to build a web. Because web-based, of course, the developers can make desktop components easily with attractive appearance and animation (of course you’ve seen all kinds of animation effects on the web).
Asturix On a project that is still young and not yet officially released, here’s a video demo:
Based on the information available on its website, Asturix On can be tried in Ubuntu 11:10 Oneiric OCELOT by typing the following command in Terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: asturix / asturix
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install on
However, for some reason I have not managed to try it on my Ubuntu (with XFCE desktop).
